I'd love some pointers on recovering from a marathon to run another in four weeks. I'm doing the same with Ogden and then Grandmas in June. Looks like you have used the elliptical a bit this time.

Steve, I am definitely a gym rat especially after races. I don't see any point in running for at least 3 days after a marathon but I still maintain my fitness riding my road bike, the elliptical, or stair stepper. I just know that it can't hurt to take it very easy for several days until you feel semi recovered. If I feel really inclined to run the first week I try to stick to a treadmill or grass. I think my daily log shows what I am talking about. Hope this helps. See you at ogden.

I just wonder how to maintain the peak you reached for the first marathon. I mean you finish it and then you have 4 weeks until the next. Is the taper nonexistant, and do you fit long runs in again?

With 4 weeks in between I try to do one long long run two weeks out and a couple 13-15. I didn't run that long last weekend (4/24) but I ran 22.5 miles on Sunday. I probably won't run more than 13 this weekend and then I will take it easy on the days leading up to the race. Probably 10-15 miles between Monday and Friday. That type of taper has seemed to work in the past.
