Long day at the gym on the machines but my foot (outside/bottom of my left foot) was too sore or injured to run.

I am little worried that it is something serious.  I first noticed a slight pain after the half marathon last Saturday, sort of as if it was bruised.  I wore my flats so I just thought that foot wasn't used to it and the bruise/pain would go away.  This last week I didn't think much about it because after I warmed up the pain seemed to go away.  I decided to still run the race yesterday and wore my flats again.  It felt fine during the race but again after the race and last night it became very sore. And then this morning is was so sore that I didn't even attempt to run.

I read up on it on the internet and found that it could be anything from a stress fracture to a strained tendon.  Has anyone else experienced something like this?

i once experienced really bad pain on the bottom on my foot after switching to new shoes -- the culprit: flexor hallucis longus tendon. is there pain in your arch?

There is no pain near or in my arch. I can mostly feel it on the outside of my foot when I put weight on my forefoot. It would really hurt if I tried jumped up and down on my left leg. Hmmmm... There are too many bones and tendons in my foot to figure this out. I will check out that flexor problem you mentioned. Thanks.

Try doing toe curls to help. Get a towel and lie it on the floor. Then with your toes grip it and slowly drag it in (trying to really flex curl it in tight along the way). Sometimes this PT drill helps the foot feel better.

Hopefully it's not anything really serious- your running to good right now to be sidelined.

The fact that it feels better after warming up is a good thing, meaning it's probably not a stress fracture.

look into plantar fasciitis. I have had similar pain before and that's what it ended up being.
