Nice run around Millcreek and Sugar House.  It felt much cooler and everything is looking greener.  Averaged about 6:30.  I was a in a hurry to get to my morning meeting on time then it turned out to be cancelled.

I have been wear testing some new Nike FlyKnit shoes that look like these.

I love the fit and I heard that the knit upper will be used on the next version of LunaRacer.  I predict these will be a big hit after they debut at the Olympics.  Gotta say Nike is making some sweet shoes these days.

Those are pretty sweet - I've heard that they are going to price them at around $150 - which seems crazy for a shoe that doesn't have much to it!

I imagine they are very lightweight?

From Fritz on Tue, Jul 17, 2012 at 09:16:19 from 65.116.116.6

The upper material is basically weightless so that just leaves the sole. If they put the LunarRacer sole on them I am guessing they will come in at around 4.5 oz. The pair I have has more a lightweight trainer sole so they weigh around 7-8 oz.

Looks like the marathoners will be wearing the Racer version in the Olympic marathon

"The Flyknit Racer will be worn at the Olympics by marathon racers from the United States, Kenya, Russia, and the U.K."

Yeah it makes sense to me - upper material is just wasted weight... as long as it stays on your foot and doesn't rip apart, the lighter/less material the better.

Saucony is using a new flexfilm upper on their shoes, which is a lot lighter than anything they've had before, but this Nike Flyknit takes it to a whole new level. They are always coming up w/ great idea.

I still love the feel of the Kinvara material and their soles. I would probably just use these as my racing flats because I already like the LunaRacer and the knit upper would just be an improvement.

Good luck at this weekend. We might be up there at the Zoo cheering then zooing. I love the shoe. The lunaracer has been a fav for a while. Can't wait to try on the new one. But I won't drop $150 for it...

The zoo has a new polar bear... at least according to all the banners on Sunnyside Ave

Clyde, I will look out for you around the zoo, although I am not sure why you will be there at around 6:30/7 AM.

The polar bear arrived in May and it's the first polar bear at the zoo in 9 years. My nephew is a big fan.

lol... I'm an idiot. No I won't be there that early. Clearly didn't calculate the time frame before I made that comment. You'll be finished long before we get to the zoo.

Oh well- have a great race!

I bet those shoes are keeping a lot of old ladies busy. I was wondering why my Grandma doesn't have time for pinochle anymore. They've got her knitting shoes.

Rob- I didn't know that your grandma lives in Asia, i.e. China, Cambodia, Malaysia?

Clyde- Have fun at the zoo and make sure to get a picture of the polar bear for Jake
