Nice cool run in Montana. With a mile left I heard some branches crack. Looked over my shoulder only to see a black bear peering down on me from the hill above the road. I sped up and did not look back.

Wow! I would have probably done the same thing you did, except I'm guessing I would have looked back to see if the bear was pursuing me? :)
I'm guessing your last mile was 5:0X, or even 4:5X.

WOW! Don't think I'll see any of those in Alabama. Maybe an alligator if I get too close to the water... Sorry I didn't get one last run in with the group.

Look what happens when you take a prolonged break from running--you're nearly eaten by a bear on your run and you get a measly three comments. Where's the love?
It's good to see you out running again. Best wishes as you go soaring past everybody who has been training for months :-)

@Matt- maybe sub 5 for 10 seconds while I rounded a corner.
@Adam- you will definitely be missed in Utah but like a few others who have left this blog should keep us in touch.
@Scott- I think impressive workouts like yours today rightly deserve more comments than a run-in with a bear. Nice work! Running that fast is a distant memory right now.
