Ran with a new guy, John, from Portland. I can't figure out why everyone who moves here thinks we have an insular culture. 8 miles is the new 12.
Weights at the gym afterwards.

I don't know why others think that either Fritz. My best stab at it is that they think everyone is a member of a certain religion and every member has the same views etc and therefore an insular culture forms. Thoughts?

I was half way joking because I would agree there are some areas in the valley that are quite homogeneous/insular for the reasons you mention. But I don't think it's nearly as bad as many people describe it. I am not offering my opinion on some southerly areas of the state. Many people go so far as to put their kids in private schools because their perception is that the public school system perpetuates or reinforces the LDS Church's belief system. At least for the schools I attended that wasn't the case

Concur. Wasn't the case for me either. I agree that it is not as bad as people seem to think. And, seem to like to express.

We live in a literal bowl. It's like we're fish sometimes.
