SWIMMING!  I had to move lanes a few times because of water aerobics and an a**hole (as one guy put it) who wouldn't circle swim.  These are the annoying things you have to deal with in the pool.

Ended up swimming around 2 miles.  I am not sure if it is a good or a bad thing but I lost track of my yards after about 600.  I used to be able to swim 4500 yards straight (180 lengths) and never lose track.  Either I don't have the same attention span, I have a less extreme case of OCD, or I am now so slow that keeping track would be impossible.

After the swim I ran an easy 1.5 miles on the treadmill then lifted.  The swim took about 65-70 minutes.

Sorry I have to ask but what is a circle swim. I've never had anyone get mad at me for not doing it.

That's pretty fast, I do about 1 mile per 40 minutes, but I take a quick break every 10 laps. I've never done my whole swim non-stop.

With 2 people in a lane you can split it (the lane is divided in two) but with more than that everyone has to agree to swim in a circle or else people will run into each other. The rude guy was splitting a lane with someone and I wanted to join their lane because I didn't want to join a lane with old people. The guy just kept swimming in his half of the lane, ignoring my attempt to join in. How selfish? I probably didn't explain this very well but I hope you get the point. :) Basically if you are splitting a lane and someone needs to join in because other lanes are full, you need to start swimming in a circle. The pain with swimming in a circle, however, is you may have to pass slower people or the fast people may need to pass you. This gets tricky as you get close to the walls.

Humm, who was the genius that came up with a rectangle swimming pool. They need oval pools, with lanes around it. can you imagine a track meet where the runners had to run back and forth?
