Stairmaster.  I spent 30 minutes of the workout consciously pushing harder with my left leg.  You would think that should help my imbalance but I have yet to see measure results.

I hope you don't mind, but I've been following your hamstring issue and I thought, because you don't seem to be having any joy, I'd offer my opinion:)

Have you tested your glutes to see if they are firing/activating in the correct sequence? It sounds to me, from everything you've been saying over the months, that your glutes are the problem and not your hamsting.

Yes, you'll notice the problem in your hammy and hip but what you are describing (the weakness and chronic nature and tiredness)seems more of a glute activation issue rather than a hamstring thing. Along with nerve impingement, this is a common problem for distance runners.

BAM, I haven't tested them but that is something a few other people have mentioned as the potential problem. On March 13th my PT will be testing how my muscles are firing using sensors. Is there another or better way to test if this is the problem? Fortunately my hamstring is doing a lot better but the hip is still very very weak and I hate to say it but now I am getting a slight tweak on the outside of my opposite (right) knee. If I don't nip it in the butt this could be the beginning of an ITB problem. Don't tell anyone :) Thanks for your advice.

There are loads of sites that will show you how to test if your glutes are firing 'abnormally'.

Lean Bodies Consulting - 'Testing The Glutes' gives two quick and easy ways to test the glutes.

There's more to it than just these tests and it sounds like your PT session on the 13th will reveal all and in a more detailed manner. But give the two tests a go and see what they reveal.

If you need any help, shout me - I've got loads of stuff on how to deal with glutes that are firing abnormally.

Do-It-Yourself-Joint-Pain-Relief.com is a great site for everything to do with nerve impingement (normally why the glutes aren't functioning properly) and soft tissue release.

Hope this helps.

Great advice Bam. Get better Fritz.
