Ran with Jake and Nate at SHP.  I did the first 5k with them at just under 17 minutes then did 2x1 mile.  All of the miles were at about 5:30 pace, which wasn't easy because of those blasted hills.  It was chilly!

PM: bootcamp that included jump roping among other things.  I am not as good as Rocky, yet.

Smart to kind of pick your spots this morning and not overdo this one. Still pretty close to the marathon.

I was especially encouraged when you said the CIM hills don't compare to SHP. That's what I wanted to hear!

CIM hills definitely aren't daggers like those in SHP, but as expected, they are much longer. Looking at my split times for the first half doesn't show too much variation but obviously I probably pushed it a bit too much on some of those hills.

I like the Good/Bad column. Next time you want to just type in "Good" once and drag it all the way down.

From Fritz on Wed, Oct 16, 2013 at 17:37:13 from 65.116.116.6

The bad really started at mile 14 but my poor choice to bank time allowed the cum pace to stand up until mile 21. The last half splits need to be even steven.

From Jake K on Wed, Oct 16, 2013 at 17:38:42 from 67.177.11.154

You're allowed a 22 second positive split if you go out in 68:47 again :-)

yeah, not much to work with anymore. Chopping a minute off the OTQ wasn't nice of them.

i remember "watching" you run that race (as a blinking dot on a map). it was a great race -- at least you went for it, right?

nice workout this morning (both of you). i was going to say the same thing about SHP vs. CIM -- the CIM hills aren't nearly as mean, but running fast in SH is probably a great way to prep for the rollers. i'm now inspired (is that word overused?) to do my workout there tomorrow.

We were refreshing the computers every 30 seconds following Fritz and Emily that morning. Remember when the virtual tracker dot at Philly stopped moving bc I started walking? I do!!!

I'm not planning on a lot of SHP workouts, but 1-2 more times doing some faster efforts on that loop is good prep.

Of course you don't regret going for it, but isn't running those early miles too fast technically 'bad' in retrospect?

From Fritz on Wed, Oct 16, 2013 at 19:36:28 from 74.82.64.144

That's debatable and depends on perspective :) I would say technically good but ultimately bad. And ultimately is ultimately more important.

Ha! I remember that day... I was hollering at my computer at Starbucks cuz my Internets were broken and chatting with my feller FRBers before I had ever even met any of them... except for say a select two :)

Did you ever get that 25 bucks?

From Fritz on Thu, Oct 17, 2013 at 09:05:58 from 65.116.116.6

Great question. He would have gladly paid up but after the fact it didn't feel right to take his money when the job was left undone. He did say he would pay me back in "drinks" someday and I don't think he meant $25 of chocolate milk.

Nice workout, Fritz!
