I decided to run this race since I haven't run a marathon since SGM last October and I needed a reminder of the journey.  This course is set up for a negative split because it's a loop and the first half is a gradual uphill and the last 10 are mostly downhill.  I didn't quite accomplish that as I went through 13 at just under a 6 min pace and then miles 14 through 16 that climb up to Deer Valley and a few super steep hills through town wore me out. Overall it was still a great workout and it should set me up well for SGM.  If you have never run this race I highly recommend it.  It was great to catch up with the women's half champ Rachelle and meet another blogger Dale(?) after the race. Sorry if I don't have that name right.

Now it's time (after some easy days) to hit some track workouts.

Garmin does a great job dramatizing elevation charts by truncating the y-axis. It looks like we climbed Everest.  The course was great with the exception of the little dagger they threw in there at mile 17.5

Congrats on the win, you are the freaking man.

Congrats. I saw you right around the 25 mile marker and man you were making things look smooth and easy.

Nice!!! Your time blows me a way for that race! Absolutely great course though. :-)

I take it your ankle did well.

You definitely should be set for SGM!!

Congrats on the W. :-)

Btw, your red "not nice" cracks me up!! Was that at empire?? I'm guessing yes, but I can't remember! :-)

From Rob Murphy on Sat, Aug 17, 2013 at 12:52:41 from 24.10.249.165

Congratulations Fritz.

From Fritz on Sat, Aug 17, 2013 at 12:54:35 from 97.117.62.242

yup, that was Empire. I swore the biker was going the wrong way then I saw a stupid blue arrow pointing UP.

Good race but more importantly, EXCELLENT use of Microsoft Paint!

From Matt Poulsen on Sat, Aug 17, 2013 at 16:01:22 from 98.202.242.213

Way to go Fritz! Nicely done, especially for that race. Sounds like a brutal course. I agree -- this will set you up very well for SGM. I, too, loved your "not nice" comment on the graph. Classic.

From allie on Sat, Aug 17, 2013 at 16:02:54 from 97.117.89.133

it takes a steady hand to write "not nice" so clearly with an e-pencil. A+

congrats, fritz. picking up right where you left off -- winning marathons. way to go.

Awesome Fritz. I estimate the extra 2000 feet and the giant hill added 5 minutes to a flat course in SLC.

From RileyCook on Sat, Aug 17, 2013 at 18:42:29 from 174.52.234.49

No big deal, just another marathon victory for Fritz...you're a machine! Congrats on the win in the first Marathon in almost a year. You will be ready to throw down at St. George.

From Toby on Sat, Aug 17, 2013 at 19:47:25 from 74.81.235.5

Great job today! You're going to do great in SG!

From Josh E on Sat, Aug 17, 2013 at 21:33:43 from 166.137.191.28

Extraordinary. And you've gotta love having won precisely one third of your marathons.

From Steve on Sat, Aug 17, 2013 at 23:48:14 from 66.87.112.84

He's back!

From Seth on Sun, Aug 18, 2013 at 07:19:07 from 98.202.250.24

Nice work man! That has to be a course record.

From Fritz on Sun, Aug 18, 2013 at 22:12:16 from 67.177.4.64

Thanks everyone. My running and Paint skills still need some work but at least they are improving.

From Rachelle on Mon, Aug 19, 2013 at 10:45:45 from 159.212.71.25

You are such an animal Fritz. Congratulations on the win!

I think this was a great training run for SGM. Keep on keeping on.
