Easy run with JP through Millcreek. Just over 7 minute pace.  Felt better than expected considering all of the hip flexor exercises I did yesterday in bootcamp.

Broke out a new pair of Altra Olympus'.  They are blue instead of grey so they should last longer than the last pair.

Blue is more durable than grey. Just look at how the north outlasted the south during the Civil War.

From Jake K on Thu, Sep 11, 2014 at 08:50:13 from 199.190.170.31

Little known historical fact: The South was actually dominating the Civil War until they all switched to zero drop shoes and got injured.

From Fritz on Thu, Sep 11, 2014 at 09:54:12 from 65.116.116.6

Interesting. I always thought the north got the upper hand because eat less fried food, drank less moonshine and smoked less.

Little known fact. I have never spent a penny on Altras and don't ever plan to. Free shoes are just hard to turn down :)

"Free shoes are just hard to turn down"

That's what Grant Hill said about Fila right before he missed 6 straight seasons! :-)

From Fritz on Thu, Sep 11, 2014 at 11:03:43 from 65.116.116.6

His Fila contract was 7 years and $93 million. Maybe a free isn't enough given the risk :)

From Amiee on Thu, Sep 11, 2014 at 11:08:49 from 155.98.164.36

Fritz - So you don't actually like the Altras? You are just wearing them because they were free?

Jake - Is there any evidence that zero drop shoes cause injury? I am talking double-blind placebo controlled studies...

From Jake K on Thu, Sep 11, 2014 at 11:15:10 from 199.190.170.31

You can't do a double blind placebo controlled study for running injuries. You can't really do general studies for running injuries that make an impact b/c there are too many variables involved that are hard to control. I was joking about the Civil War thing.

From Amiee on Thu, Sep 11, 2014 at 11:18:53 from 155.98.164.36

I was joking about the placebo. I am just curious how zero drop shoes can cause injury.

From Fritz on Thu, Sep 11, 2014 at 11:23:56 from 174.239.107.186

They are ok but I would rather spend $130 on Nike Pegasus.

From Superfly on Thu, Sep 11, 2014 at 11:30:30 from 199.66.117.168

Lol about the above. :) I forgot all about FILA. Poor Grant.

And I love the Pegasus. Great shoe!

From allie on Thu, Sep 11, 2014 at 11:38:39 from 161.38.221.168

omg, fila.

From Jake K on Thu, Sep 11, 2014 at 12:03:13 from 199.190.170.31

They overstretch the achilles tendon. It's also not optimal for elastic energy return.

From Fritz on Thu, Sep 11, 2014 at 12:11:09 from 65.116.116.6

This is why I put heel raises in them :) I also only wear them for recovery runs.
