Any distance less than a half marathon scares me because it means I have to try to run really fast.   Despite my fear I think I ran a smart race.  The highlight was catching two young guys after the turn around.   Luckily I get faster with age.

Mile 1 - slight uphill toward City Creek Canyon (5:49) +112 ft

Mile 2 - City Creek gate to turn around (6:11) +128 ft

Mile 3 (4:55) -186 ft

.8 Miles 3:50 (4:49 pace) -215 ft.

Total 20:45 ~5:27

Overall I felt good about my effort and I was glad to have some zip on the downhill.  More importantly, I was glad my hands thawed out because I seriously thought they were frostbitten when I finished the race.

Too many 2nd place finishes in 2009.  Now that I am 30 I think I can remedy that next year.

You made up some good ground. After the turn around you disappeared. Nice race.

Good job on the race and good job on turning 30.

Great run Fritz! I wanted to run that race. Next year I guess. Who won it?

Thanks Walter. It is a fun race. I think Josh Steffen beat my by 25-30 seconds. He was out front the entire time.

Awe, the infamous Josh! yes that is a great race. BJ won it the last time I ran.

Nice job in that race! If turning 30 is the magic ticket then I will look forward to next year too. (except since it will be my first year of really training consistently I won't have much of a comparison)

I did that race last year with my wife, it was fun. Well, going up the first 2 mile hill as a 200 pounder wasn't honestly that fun, but passing tons of people on the downhill was really fun.
