You are like a male, childless mother - so happy mother's day to you as well!
I did a little research to make sure my comments re: TM mechanics were correct. It is true that the TM can be problematic for runners w/ hamstring issues. But I also found that the TM reduces torque around the knee and can be better for runners w/ problems there. So there ya go. That actually makes sense!

By those standards I guess pretty much every living creature is a mother. Happy mother's day to you too!
Since active.com is practically the bible on sports advice I thought I would find out what they have to say about TM running. I have to add that running is probably best for hydrophobes or people with sun allergies.

Something tells me the writers for Active.com aren't using primary sources from PubMed for their articles :-)
But the points they make are valid.

They are definitely "soft" points but I agree with most of them. I think the softer surface allows you to pound out "fast" miles without feeling overly taxed. I can generally check my HR on a treadmill whereas I can't on the road and that's nice. I'd like to hear jpark's opinions b/c he relies on it so heavily. I missed you guys like crazy today.

Josh - I'll give you the context of what I posted above since we missed you too. I wasn't debating whether TM were good or bad, just that it is well-established that muscle groups are used differently compared to overground running. For example, the hamstrings aren't recruited as much. But you don't have/use those anyways.
