3.5 miles on treadmill before flight. No more treadmill running for awhile.

PM: 5 miles around neighborhood. One fast mile.

Bloodwork, borderline to low on everything which is fairly normal for me

Hematocrit 40.9L (41-53)

Hemoglobin 14.1 (13.5-17.5)

Platelets 158 (150-400)

RBC 4.55 (4.5-5.9)

Thyroid Stimulating Hormone 0.97 (0.45-4.67)

Iron: Ferritin 30 (22-275), Total Serum 64 (49-181), Transferrin 354 (212-360), Iron Binding Capacity 443 (226-450), Iron Percent Saturation 14L (20-50)

I need to learn how to interprete the iron levels but they don't look good.

The reference ranges for regular people don't apply to endurance athletes. Training adds a lot of variables to the equation. For running ~70-80 mpw, those are pretty good numbers.

I am more concerned about the iron than I am about the hematocrit.

Do you think the iron levels are ok? I have heard anecdotally that ferritin for athletes really needs to be at least 70.
